KUALA LUMPUR – Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis’s suspension has not been retracted, clarified the Kota Belud lawmaker after rumours saying otherwise.

The two-day suspension was handed down after a heated debate with Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun in the sitting this morning.

Speaking to The Vibes, Isnaraissah confirmed that the suspension is still in effect.

“It was very noisy in the Dewan Rakyat, so I couldn’t hear it well.

“But my officer has checked with the SUDR (Dewan Rakyat secretary), I am indeed suspended; it has not been retracted.

“I will be back on Wednesday.”

Earlier, a business news station tweeted that deputy speaker Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon retracted Isnaraissah’s suspension.

The Warisan MP was ejected from the Dewan Rakyat and suspended for two days after pressing for the motion of the seizure of Petronas assets by Sulu claimants to be debated.

Other opposition lawmakers also refused to pass up the opportunity to question Azhar over his alleged conflict of interest after his brother Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun said he would “look into” the reported seizure of two Petronas subsidiaries over claims made by the descendants of the Sulu sultanate.

The ruckus reached a fever pitch and went on for more than 20 minutes that saw Azhar walking off. – The Vibes, July 18, 2022
