MINISTER of Plantations and Commodities, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani has dismissed rumours that Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will carry out a Cabinet reshuffle in the near future.
According to Johari, so far no official discussion or briefing regarding the matter has been held during any Cabinet meeting.
“I don’t think so. There is no reshuffle so far,” he told the media when met after opening the Timber Expo 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, today.
Yesterday, Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) President Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu revealed that the Prime Minister is expected to hold a special briefing for Cabinet ministers tomorrow.
It further strengthened rumours of a possible Cabinet reshuffle in the Unity Government which is increasingly being talked about.
The speculation has been further fuelled following the expiry of the terms of appointment of two senators who also hold the position of Cabinet ministers, as well as the recent resignation of another minister.
Mohamad said that so far he has only learned about the Cabinet reshuffle through media reports.
The Cabinet reshuffle has become a hot topic following the resignation of Datuk Ewon Benedick as Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, while the terms of appointment of Senators for Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir, and Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz are expected to expire this December.
Apart from that, recently, Pandan Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli also resigned as Minister of Economy while Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad also relinquished his position as Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability. - November 10, 2025
