KUALA LUMPUR – Eight states, namely Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Sarawak, and Sabah are expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds until 5pm today.

The Meteorological Department said in a statement that in Kedah, such conditions are expected in Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Sik, and Baling. 

The locations set for heavy weather in Perak are Kerian, Larut, Matang, Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, and Kampar.

In Kelantan, they are Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Baru, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, Pasir Puteh, and Kuala Krai; in Pahang,they are Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut and Kuantan.

In Sarawak, the locations are Serian, Samarahan, Betong, Sarikei (Pakan, Sarikei, and Meradong) and Mukah (Tanjung Manis and Daro); and Sandakan (Beluran) and Kudat in Sabah.
