PUTRAJAYA – Muda is still part of the unity government through the memorandum of understanding (MoU) it has signed, even if it was not at the government’s secretariat meeting last weekend, said Pakatan Harapan (PH) secretary general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Muda, along with other political entities under the MoU, is still properly recognised, he told the media when asked about Muda’s letter requesting to be invited to the unity government secretariat meeting.

“Muda is still bound under the unity government’s MoU,” he said, adding that the formation of all joint political committees had been informed to all parties.

His remarks follow Muda’s claims that it was again not invited to the recent unity government secretariat meeting at Menara Dato Onn on Sunday.

Muda secretary-general Amir Abdul Hadi previously said the party had sent a third letter to Saifuddin’s office requesting that the party be included in the meeting but had yet to receive any response.

Asked about the letter, Saifuddin said has not been at his PH office as he was occupied with his duties as home minister.

The MoU between PH, Barisan Nasional, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and Parti Warisan was signed in December to seal their support of the current administration under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The unity government secretariat meeting last Sunday was the second held after the first last month. Sunday’s meeting reportedly discussed seat negotiations for the upcoming elections to be held in six states. – The Vibes, March 22, 2023
