KUALA LUMPUR – Repairs are underway on the Kajang MRT line this morning due to brake problems involving one train between Pusat Bandar Damansara and Phileo Damansara stations, RapidKL said.
Longer wait times at stations during peak traffic hours had commuters venting on social media, with some stating that the trains have not moved for 15 to 20 minutes at various stations along the line.
RapidKL began a series of tweets after 8.30am, initially to alert that service along the Kajang MRT line was slowing down.
In a second tweet, it stated that a train was experiencing “brake issues” as well as “power” problems between the Pusat Bandar Damansara and Phileo Damansara stations.

After 9am, it tweeted that “alternating train services had been activated”.
It explained that this would involve trains from Kwasa Damansara turning back at Phileo Damansara, while trains from the other end of the line at Kajang would turn back at the Semantan station.

A different, “intermediate train” will run between Phileo Damansara and Semantan, where the repair works are ongoing.
The situation appeared to be quickly rectified, however, as of around 9.30am, RapkidKL tweeted that the train experiencing brake and power supply issues had been resolved.
“The alternative and intermediate train services have ended. Service schedule is back to normal,” it said.

Earlier, commuters vented on Twitter about the delay in their commute to work.
Dan Zain said he had been stuck on a train for 20 minutes, although he did not state his location.
Another user, Najwa Huda, said a train had been stuck near Pasar Seni for 20 minutes, while others said a train was also stuck near Taman Permata in Cheras for more than 15 minutes.
Other commuters lamented that service problems always seemed to happen during peak hours, and asked if there were preventive plans in place. – The Vibes, March 27, 2023
