MELAKA – A couple have been remanded for seven days, beginning today, in connection with alleged abuse that led to the death of a 7-year-old boy.
Magistrates’ court assistant registrar Mohd Anuar Ostadi issued the remand order, said Melaka Criminal Investigation Department chief Mohd Sukri Kaman.
The child died in Taman Krubong Jaya here yesterday, believed following abuse by his mother, 32, and 38-year-old stepfather.
The victim allegedly drowned in a tub at home in the 4pm incident.
However, preliminary investigations found injuries on his body.
The body was taken to Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. – Bernama, January 30, 2021
