Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department Director, Datuk M.Kumar, in a statement, said Ops Dadu Mega was carried out by PDRM through the D7 Division of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department and the state Contingent Criminal Investigation Department.

The target of the operation were online gambling activities operating illegally through call centres.

According to him, 21 premises were inspected and as a result 20 premises were found to be used as online gambling call centres targeting local and foreign customers such as the Philippines, China and Australia.

Meanwhile, another premise was detected as a call centre for non-existent investment activities targeting locals.

A total 85 individuals were arrested including 23 women suspected of acting as operators and customer service representatives in the gambling activity.

Of those arrested, 38 were foreigners.

“Also seized in the operation were computer hardware, devices and mobile phones as well as other equipment,” he said.

The investigation is being conducted under Section 48(a), Section 4(1)(c), Section 4(1)(g) of the Open Gambling Houses Act 1953, Section 420 of the Penal Code and the Immigration Act 1959/63.
