KUALA LUMPUR – Police are expecting to wrap up their investigations into allegations of sexual harassment against popular Muslim preacher Ebit Lew once details requested by the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) are established.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigations Department director Commissioner Datuk Abd Jalil Hassan, during a press conference at the federal police headquarters today, said he expects the probe to be completed soon and resubmitted to the AGC.
“It is in its final stages. The report was submitted to the deputy public prosecutor, but they required some additional information, so it was sent back to the police again.
“We look to resubmit the investigation papers soon,” he said.
This is believed to be over an incident in August last year, where videos resembling the famed preacher performing lewd acts on camera were widely circulated on instant messaging apps like Telegram.
The preacher and his wife were then called in twice by federal investigators, in August and October last year, to assist with their probe into a sexual harassment case said to be centred around the supposed videos.
Jalil had on both occasions also warned the public against publishing any slanderous information related to the said allegations of sexual harassment. — The Vibes, February 3, 2022
