A PAKISTANI man was sentenced to five years in prison by the Seremban Sessions Court today after pleading guilty to kissing an 11-year-old girl with learning disabilities.
The accused, Uzman Khan, 22, made the plea before Judge Surita Budin after the charge was read through an interpreter.
The construction worker is alleged to have committed the act at a bus stop in Taman Tuanku Jaafar at 6.30pm, August 24.
He was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (Act 792) which provides for a prison sentence of up to 20 years and whipping.
Another fellow Pakistani, Abrar Tasib, 33, was also sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing pornographic images of the child on his mobile phone at the Seremban District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 6.30pm, August 28.
Abrar was charged under Section 10 of Act 792 which carries a maximum prison sentence of five years or a fine of up to RM10,000, or both, if convicted.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni requested the court to impose a sentence to commensurate with the offence, while stressing that the accused, who has only been working in the country for two years, had committed a serious crime against children with special needs.
